Russian Engineer Who Was Training Indian Engineers For Maintenance of Russian aircrafts, Found Dead in his Hotel Room

On Monday, a Russian engineer, Oleg Filippov, was found dead in his room in a five-star hotel in Agra. Filipov was an aircraft maintenance engineer and had visited Air Force Station in Agra along with his colleague Khramstov for training Indian engineers about maintenance of Sukhoi and other Russian fighter aircrafts. He was 55 years old.

This is second such incident since March when another Russian engineer was found dead in Vishakhapatnam. Russian Engineer named Grachev Dmitri was found unconscious at Cabin C-1 on the Dolphin hills. Last year 14 spies were arrested from Dolphin hills. Read it here.

Filipov was issued a business visa on March 5, which was valid till September 2021. He and his colleague Alekxandr Khramstov were staying at a five-star hotel in Agra. They had arrived in India on April 2 . According to freePressjournal, he was the maintenance engineer of Sukhoi and other Russian aircrafts.

According to police, the incident came to light when his friend Khramtsov, who was staying in the adjacent room, called him on Monday morning but did not get any reply. When he didn’t reply for a long time, Khramtsov informed the hotel staff.

Hotel staff called Police and they entered Filipov’s room in the presence of Police with duplicate keys. They found him lying unconscious in the washroom with blood oozing out of his forehead. Police has said that prima facie it looked like a natural death. The injury on his head seems to be the result of him falling on the floor of the washroom after sudden cardiac arrest or brain stroke. The body has been sent for the post mortem examination to the S.N. Medical College to ascertain the cause of death. The post mortem is being conducted by a panel of doctors and videography will be done of the entire process as per the external affairs protocol.

The Russian embassy has also been informed, as is required, when a foreign citizen dies in India.
