American defense startup XDOWN has introduced the P.S. Killer (PSK), a lightweight, throwable tactical unmanned aerial system (UAS) designed for rapid deployment in combat scenarios.
Engineered for special operations forces (SOF) and counterterrorism missions, the PSK is described as a “throw-and-forget” drone, offering speed, stealth, and precision targeting.
XDOWN emphasizes the simplicity of its deployment: “Grab it – Switch it ON – Throw it.” The drone becomes fully operational within two seconds, functioning much like a quarterback throwing a football.
With a flight range exceeding 64 km and speeds of up to 250 km/h, the PSK serves as a highly maneuverable kamikaze drone. Its precision strike capabilities are particularly valuable in counterterrorism operations, minimizing collateral damage in urban environments and reducing risks to civilians and infrastructure.
Defense analyst James Holt highlights the PSK as part of a broader technological shift in asymmetric warfare. While its development is rooted in advancements seen in commercial drones used on the battlefield—such as in Ukraine—XDOWN has enhanced the PSK with military-grade encrypted communications and advanced anti-jamming technology.
Although XDOWN has yet to announce a mass production timeline or pricing details, the company has received research and development funding from the Defense Tactical Technology Agency. Additionally, the Pentagon’s 2025 budget document, “Lethal Micro-UAV System,” reveals a 37% increase in investment for related technologies, reflecting the growing demand for precision strike weapons in modern warfare.
