Lashkar being integrated into Pakistani civil society?
I spent some time researching and wanted to highlight that Lashkar-e-Taiba is now attempting to integrate itself into Pakistan’s civil society. Lashkar-e-Taiba, an in-your-face jihadist terrorist organization backed by Pakistan, now has a political party. It has also carried out search and rescue operations alongside the Pakistan Army. Of course, Indians are well aware that the Pakistan Army and Lashkar-e-Taiba work hand in glove when it comes to terrorist attacks against India. The world may or may not believe this, but the point is that Lashkar-e-Taiba, a jihadist group, has adopted several democratic-sounding names to appear as a peaceful organization. For example, Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF), formerly known as Jamaat-ud-Dawa, is a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy. Last year, it was revealed that FIF was being funded by USAID, and the United States formally apologized for this.
Just last week, FIF was seen carrying out search and rescue operations with the Pakistan Army. A Pakistani veteran, Colonel Qazi Ishaq had gone missing due to flash floods that hit Islamabad and Rawalpindi. FIF’s divers, trained by Pakistan Army veterans, were used to assist in the search and rescue operation. Picture of Pakistani veteran in the video. There is ample evidence—photos and videos—of FIF and other proxies, like the Pakistan Muslim League (PML), carrying out these operations. This is not mere speculation; Lashkar-e-Taiba itself has acknowledged these activities.
FIF has also recently established a presence in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, where it was seen distributing rations following floods in the region. Their strategy appears to be to provide food and necessities now, only to later recruit the same families for their jihadi campaign against India. As a terrorist organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba may fade into the background, but its new crop of proxies will take over. Like a hydra-headed monster, when one head is cut off, multiple heads emerge.
