This article involves data provided by Pakistan Army and the Baloch group BLA.

Part-1

BLA’s conclusion statement along with their losses and the losses suffered by Pakistani forces:

Operation Herof II, executed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), represents the most extensive, intense, and organized military campaign in the modern history of the Baloch national resistance. This six-day operation of coordinated urban combat began at 5:00 AM on January 31 and concluded at 4:00 PM on February 6, after achieving its strategic objectives. It targeted 14 cities across Balochistan, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing struggle for Baloch rights and independence.

The BLA confirmed that all tactical and strategic goals of Operation Herof II were fully accomplished. The operation had three primary objectives:

The deliberate selection of urban warfare was strategic, targeting cities long considered secure strongholds by the occupying army. This shift showed that Baloch resistance is no longer confined to mountainous regions. By holding key military positions, checkpoints, and city sectors for extended periods, the BLA conveyed a powerful message to the Baloch public and the international community about its will and capability to define the battlefield on its own terms.

The outcomes extended beyond symbolism, delivering operational, political, and psychological impacts. Operation Herof II directly challenges colonial narratives portraying the Baloch national movement as tribal, criminal, or extremist. Instead, it highlights a politically aware, strategically organized, and dignified national movement.

The Pakistani state’s efforts to label the struggle as terrorism or religious extremism form a calculated strategy to distort reality. The Baloch armed resistance is not driven by racist ideology or foreign funding. It is led by educated individuals—including students, professors, lawyers, doctors, engineers, and intellectuals—from all segments of Baloch society. The movement’s foundation is a vision for an independent Baloch homeland, where freedom, education, healthcare, dignity, and resource control are guaranteed rights for every citizen, not privileges for a select few.

Part-2

Pakistan’s Official Stance on Operation Herof II

Pakistan’s government and military have categorically condemned Operation Herof II as a terrorist campaign orchestrated by the banned Baloch Liberation Army, which they describe as a militant separatist group aiming to destabilize the province and undermine national security. Pakistani authorities launched a large-scale counter-operation named “Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1” starting January 29, involving coordinated efforts by the armed forces, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies. Official statements from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) and military sources claim the operation successfully thwarted most attacks, killed over 216 militants (with figures varying in reports from 145 to 363 across sources), dismantled BLA command structures, and restored state control. Pakistani officials, including Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and others, have rejected BLA casualty claims as exaggerated or false, emphasized heavy militant losses, and accused external actors (notably India) of sponsoring the violence to sabotage regional stability and projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The response included province-wide security measures such as Section 144 impositions, internet and rail suspensions, and vows to continue anti-terrorism efforts under the National Action Plan until all threats are eliminated. Pakistan frames the BLA’s actions as criminal terrorism targeting civilians and infrastructure, rather than legitimate resistance, and maintains that the group has no popular support among the Baloch people.
