Markaz-ul-Quds in Rawalakot Emerges as Key Facility Just 20 km from LoC!

Intelligence reports have uncovered a renovated terrorist launchpad operated by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), known as Markaz-ul-Quds, located in Rawalakot, Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The site is situated a mere 20 kilometers from the Line of Control (LoC), placing it in close proximity to the Line of Control/ LoC between India and Pakistan.

According to reliable intelligence sources, the facility has seen a surge in activity in recent months. Several high-ranking Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives and leaders have made recent visits to the site, signaling renewed operational focus in the area.

Daily oversight of the Markaz-ul-Quds is reportedly managed by Amir Zia, a known Lashkar terrorist figure associated with the groupโ€™s activities in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Amir Zia has been linked to LeTโ€™s regional command structures, including coordination of training and logistical efforts.

Adding to concerns about heightened activity, multiple iftar parties were recently organized at the location specifically for Lashkar terrorists and associates. These gatherings, held during Ramadan, indicate not only increased footfall but also efforts to boost morale, networking, and possibly recruitment or planning among operatives.

Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistan-based Islamist militant group designated as a terrorist organization by the United Nations, the United States, India, and several other countries, has long focused on operations targeting India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. The group has a history of using forward launchpads near the LoC to stage infiltrations, training, and attacks.

The discovery of this renovated facility comes amid broader reports of LeT expanding its infrastructure and capabilities, including maritime training near Karachi and reactivation of launchpads along the Jammu frontier following past Indian counter-terror operations.

This development shows the persistent challenges in countering cross-border terrorism in the region. Indian security forces and intelligence agencies continue to monitor such sites closely, viewing them as potential staging grounds for militant incursions or attacks.

The presence of senior figures and organized events at Markaz-ul-Quds highlights LeTโ€™s ongoing efforts to maintain operational readiness despite international pressure and designations. Authorities are treating the intelligence as a serious indicator of escalating threats along the LoC.
