A Chinese website is seen selling Shahed drone 136 parts online. The Shahed 136 drone of Iranian origin, is a fixed-wing suicide drone designed to strike fixed targets for long distance.

What are they selling?

The Chinese website has on display myriad defence equipments, Shahed 136 drone being one of them. The website says that it sells following parts of Shahed 136:

~ anti jamming GNSS receiver

~ and the launcher

The website has also provided wechat and whatsapp contact numbers with country code +86 (China).

Shahed Drone 136:

Shahed 136, also known by its Russian designation Geran-2, is an Iranian-designed kamikaze drone or suicide drone. The drone is typically fired in multiples from a launch rack.. Russia has made much use of the Geran-2 in its invasion of Ukraine, especially in strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure. China is known to supply some parts of Shahed 136 drones to Iran.

China’s version of Shahed Drone and sanctions :

In 2023, multiple reports claimed that Chinese and Russian firms were working on designing and trialing a combat drone inspired by Iran’s Shahed, intended for delivery to Russia. The Chinese drone called Sunflower-200 looks like a copy of Shahed Drones 136, and the specifications reinforce this belief.

The Chinese Sunflower 200 is reported to have a fuselage length of 3.2 meters and a wingspan of 2.5 meters , with a payload capacity of 40 kg. Ostensibly it has an operational range between 1,500 and 2,000 km, while its cruising speed is estimated between 160 and 220 km/h. These features are largely comparable to those of the Shahed-136.

Meanwhile companies supplying spare parts and equipments to Russia that can fuel the Ruso-Ukro war have earned America’s wrath. Earlier in May 2024, United States restricted trade with a dozen Chinese companies that it said can help produce and procure drones for use by Russia in Ukraine, and by Iran-backed Houthis in Red Sea shipping attacks.

A Chinese website selling Shahed 136 drone parts or parts of Sunflower-200 that can be used by Russia, will ideally earn China America’s wrath. We will have to wait and watch how America reacts to this news.
