On April 12, 2025, during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, a high-level meeting took place between the Foreign Affairs Advisor of Bangladesh and Mehmet Demiroğlu, President & CEO of Turkish Aerospace. During the discussion, Bangladesh expressed interest in attracting Turkish investment in its growing aerospace sector. In response, Turkish Aerospace agreed to send a high-level delegation, led by the CEO, to Bangladesh to explore potential opportunities and avenues for future cooperation in aerospace technology.
The initiative aligns with the Bangladesh government’s broader strategy ” Forces Goal 2030″ to strengthen its armed forces, particularly through the development of its defense industry. As part of this effort, Bangladesh is establishing a defense hardware manufacturing hub with investment and technology transfers from partner nations such as Türkiye, China, Russia, and countries in Europe.
In a related development, Lt. Gen. Kamrul Hassan, Principal Staff Officer of the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division, visited the Baykar facilities to “deepen technical collaboration” with the Turkish UAV manufacturer. The visit focused on technology transfer, procurement of new systems, and the acquisition of additional munitions and spare parts. Notably, in 2023, Bangladesh had already procured Bayraktar TB2 UAVs from Türkiye.
Some reports had earlier claimed that Bangladesh wants to invite Russia to assemble Kalashnikov’s AK-15 in Bangladesh. Albeit this can not ve independently verified.
