Indian Drone Strike Targets ULFA-I Camps in Myanmar

Early on July 13, a significant drone operation reportedly conducted by the Indian Army struck four camps of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA-I) located within Myanmar. According to reports, the cross-border offensive deployed nearly 100 drones to target the insurgent group’s bases with high precision. ULFA-I confirms it lost atleast 3 senior officers of its cadre and many others were injured.

ULFA-I confirms that Lieutenant General Nayan Asom, a senior commander in the group’s military wing, may have been among those killed in the strike.

The Indian forces launched a missile at the funeral of Lt. J. Nayan Assam, Hon’ble President of the Lower Council of the United Liberation Forces of Assam [Swadeshi] does. Brigadier Ganesh Assam and Colonel Pradeep Assam were killed and several other officers/members and civilians were injured in this brutal attack . The Indian forces continue to carry out air strikes in certain areas. I would like to inform the indigenous people of Assam that; We are determined to take revenge on this barbaric attack by the colonial state.”
