How Indian INTEL Agencies helped Sri Lanka arrest 2 terrorists planning to attack Israelis

Indian intelligence agencies have played a crucial role in helping Sri Lankan authorities thwart a major terrorist attack targeting Israeli nationals. Thanks to the timely and precise intelligence provided by Indian agencies, two terrorists were arrested in Arugam Bay, a popular tourist destination in Sri Lanka.

The intelligence shared by Indian agencies was highly specific, including the names of the suspects, which allowed the Sri Lankan police to swiftly apprehend the individuals. Reports indicate that the terrorists were offered around Rs. 5 million for their involvement in the planned attack. One of the 2 terrorists arrested was based in Iraq.

The motive behind the plot was reportedly revenge for the recent killing of Hezbollah leaders by Israeli forces. Arugam Bay was chosen as the location for the attack, potentially endangering many tourists.

In response to the credible threat, the Israeli government has issued an urgent travel advisory, warning its citizens to leave Sri Lanka’s tourist areas immediately. Authorities have advised Israelis to avoid traveling to Sri Lanka altogether due to heightened security concerns in the region.

Although details of the planned attack remain scarce, the swift action of Sri Lankan authorities, supported by Indian intelligence, has led to the foiling of the plot and the apprehension of the suspects.

Note: To add fuel to fire– now a statement has been issued by Security Minister Vijitha Herath that Sri Lanka had received foreign intelligence reports but India’s spy agency was not involved. Reminiscent of 2019 when Sri lankan agencies initially denied getting info from India.
