
In a significant show of military cooperation, China’s People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) is actively participating in an ongoing multinational air exercise, Indus Shield 2024, hosted by Pakistan. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability and strengthen defense ties among participating nations, which include Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan.
China has deployed a range of advanced aircraft for the exercise. The PLAAF is represented by the KJ-500 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft, along with Jian-10C and Jian-16 fighter jets, showcasing its capabilities in both surveillance and aerial combat.
The Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) has deployed six Panavia Tornado fighter jets, known for their versatility and precision. Turkey has contributed its widely regarded F-16 fighter jets, while Egypt has sent its Mirage 2000 aircraft to participate in the exercise. Pakistan, the host nation, is represented by its J-10C fighter jets.
Pakistan’s Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir on Thursday witnessed the Indus Shield regional aerial warfare exercises in Rawalpindi, the military’s media wing said.
