NIA surprises again, apprehends UNLF(P) Cadres, Shifted for Investigation Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections

In a significant development, two senior cadres of the United National Liberation Front (P) outfit, identified as Thokchom Thoiba, SS COAS, and SS Lt Col Laimayum Ingba, SS HOD of int sec of UNLF(P), were apprehended on March 13, 2024, around 1300 hrs. The operation took place at Gen A Paite Veng, Singjamei PS, Imphal West Dist and the cadres were subsequently shifted to Guwahati via N 32 by a joint team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for further investigation.

Sources indicate that there is a likelihood of the cadres being transferred to Delhi for additional inquiry. The decision to relocate the cadres is believed to be aimed at thwarting any potential nefarious activities during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and to investigate criminal charges against them. Another cadre, Ibomcha was also airlifted along the senior cadre of UNLF (P)

Notably, a military AN-32 aircraft was utilized for the transportation of the apprehended individuals, with rumors suggesting that a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) from the NIA had arrived from Delhi to oversee the operation.

This recent event comes in the wake of previous developments in November, where just days before the Indian Government signed a peace agreement with the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), a wanted terrorist was neutralized in Myothit, Myanmar.
