Jesus said “Love Thy Neighbour“– and CCP merely follows it.
In what appears to be a heartwarming gesture of generosity, China has expanded its construction inside Bhutan, bringing modern settlements to areas like Demalong, Jieluobu, Semalong, and Qujielong. Since late September, convoys of cheerful families arrived in long lines of vans, coaches, and trucks, all escorted by police cars. Because nothing says “welcome to your new homeland” like a police escort! They were greeted to Semalong village with traditional Tibetan dances and bright red banners—China’s unique way of making sure everyone knows who’s behind this sudden outpouring of hospitality.

China’s passion for real estate in the Jakurlung Valley goes back to 2016, but last year’s push suggests they’re really stepping things up. By summer, more than 2,000 residential units had been built, creating enough room for thousands of people. And if two villages weren’t enough, they’ve added two more for good measure—Qujielong and Semalong. It’s almost as if China has plans for a cozy, long-term stay.
No this ain’t sarcasm! One has to give it to CCP for its unabashed expansion to every nook and corner of its neighbourhood. Wherever CCP can, without resistance!!!

The “Perks” of Settlement Life
And what perks await the lucky residents of these settlements! In Jieluobu, former Tibetan herders have upgraded to charming two-story houses with courtyards, a far cry from their traditional lifestyle. As if that wasn’t enough, residents aged 16 and older are generously awarded an annual subsidy of over 20,000 yuan (about $2,800)—because nothing says, “we’re here to help” like an annual cash bonus, especially when you didn’t exactly ask for it.
With traditional dances, banners, and all these “thoughtful” perks, China’s development strategy in Bhutan’s borderlands appears to be a long-term plan for integration—and just maybe, a bit of annexation. It’s almost touching how much they care. The media always misconstrues China’s intentions.
