88 attacks/blockades in 4 days– Balochistan National Army claims

In a statement released on 29 March Balochistan national army which is also known as Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar/ BRAS carried out a total of 72 operations throughout Balochistan. Then on 30th March, BRAS released another statement which confirmed that 16 more attacks were carried out, taking the total number of attacks/blockades to 88.

BRAS is a group formed by myriads of Baloch groups fighting against Pakistan Army. In their statements they confirm that they carried out operations which include grenade attacks and highway blockades. These attacks focused on targeting Pakistani army, paramilitary forces, intelligence agencies, state-backed death squad agents, government installations, vehicles carrying minerals and energy and other state interests. In these attacks at least 32 personnel of Pakistani forces were killed and more than 40 were injured while 14 vehicles were completely destroyed, as per claims.

BRAS claims that in last 4 days blockades were set up for several hours on the main highways at more than 30 places in different districts of Balochistan. In these blockades, baloch groups not only restricted traffic but also targeted Pakistani forces and state personnel after identification through planned snap-checking.

These attacks were carried out in commemoration of March 27, 1948, when the Pakistan Army took control of Baloch territory through a military coup. This occupation was contrary to the historical, geographical and legal identity of Balochistan, against which the Baloch nation has resisted since day one, claim the Baloch groups.

BRAS says that most of the attacks took place in Gwadar port city, whilst some in Turbat, Mustang, Kalat, Kech, Panjgur and also Karachi. They targeted not just pakistani Army camps but also customs personnel and Coast Guard camp near Hokaar in Jeewani. They specifically mention use of SPG-9, and that they fired at an army post in Kishangi (Pachanan). SPG-9 is an early Cold War era recoilless rifle of Soviet origin.

The group claims a clash took place on the night of March 27 in the Qadirabad area of Noshki, when the Pakistani army carried out a raid. During the fierce clash that lasted for three hours, BRAS lost one of its men, eliminating eight personnel of the occupying army while injuring several others and thwarting the enemy’s advance.

Whilst the veracity of the above claims cannot be verified independently, multiple social media accounts from Pakistan confirmed that Pakistan army was carrying out operations against rebel groups. As always some of these figures may be exaggerated albeit, rebel groups inside Pakistan have intensified their attacks, has been proven by recent videos and pictures that emerged on social media.
