Comparison between Pakistan’s Official Figures With That of Rebel Group- 2024 Deadliest Year

Pakistan Taliban has published a scathing report. The group claimed responsibility for 1,758 attacks in 2024. According to their claims a total of 2,945 officials were killed or injured as a result of these attacks, of which 1,284 were killed and 1,661 were injured.

Interestingly, Pakistan Taliban or TTP (Tehreek E Taliban Pakistan) also claims that about 1441 SSG commandos and soldiers have been injured or killed, followed by police at 820 policemen being injured/killed, then 578 FC soldiers, and 106 ISI/ intel officials. Most of their attacks were around Kohat and Bannu, while Kohat leads with 645 attacks and bannu and Peshawar witnessed 482 and 308 attacks respectively. TTP says they carried out atleast 219 ambushes.

Baloch rebels and their data will only add to the above figures.

Deadliest Year for Pakistan’s Security Forces

Pakistani media claims that there were at least 685 security personnel who lost their lives in a total of 444 terrorist attacks, and that 2024 emerged as the most fatal year for Pakistan’s civil and military forces in a decade.

Fatalities of civilians and security personnel reached 1,612—over 63% of the year’s total casualties and a 73% increase compared to the 934 militants neutralized.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces carried out 59,775 operations throughout the year, resulting in the elimination of 925 terrorists, while 383 officers and soldiers were killed in the operations. These statistics were presented by ISPR Director General (DG) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry during a press briefing on December 27.

More than 95% of the terrorist incidents in 2024 occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan. KP alone witnessed the highest number of attacks nationwide, with 295 incidents recorded.
