In a significant breakthrough, Indian intelligence agencies have foiled a sophisticated plot by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to execute a major terrorist attack in India’s capital, Delhi. The operation, which unfolded over three months between January and March 2025, exposed an intricate espionage network aimed at destabilizing India.
The investigation began with a tip in January 2025, indicating that an ISI operative had been dispatched to collect sensitive military documents, photographs, and Google coordinates to plan a terror strike in Delhi. The operative, identified as Ansarul Mian Ansari, a Nepali-origin Pakistani agent, was apprehended in a Delhi hotel through a meticulously planned joint operation by central intelligence agencies and the Delhi Police Special Cell. Ansari had entered India via Nepal under ISI directives and was preparing to return to Pakistan when arrested.
During interrogation, Ansari provided critical insights into the ISI’s espionage operations, admitting he was tasked with procuring and transmitting classified Indian Armed Forces documents to Pakistan. Forensic analysis of materials recovered from Ansari confirmed their sensitive nature, while incriminating digital evidence further corroborated his role in the plot. Sources disclosed that Ansari, previously a cab driver in Qatar, was recruited by an ISI handler, taken to Pakistan, and subjected to intensive brainwashing and training by senior ISI operatives before being deployed to India.
The operation also led to the arrest of Akhlaq Azam in Ranchi, who allegedly assisted Ansari in gathering and relaying sensitive military information to ISI officials in Pakistan. Azam is believed to have played a pivotal role in the espionage network, facilitating the transfer of critical documents.
The investigation has raised suspicions about the involvement of certain staff members at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. Intelligence sources pointed to ISI officers Muzammil and Ehsan-ur-Rahim (alias Danish), who had previously been linked to cultivating Indian YouTubers and influencers, as potential accomplices in the plot. Despite the complexity of the operation, Indian intelligence agencies remained a step ahead, leveraging precise intelligence and coordinated efforts to dismantle the ISI’s plans.
The successful operation marks a significant victory for India’s intelligence community, thwarting a high-stakes terrorist plot and exposing the ISI’s covert efforts to undermine national security. The arrests of Ansari and Azam, coupled with the seizure of sensitive materials, underscore the vigilance and precision of India’s counterintelligence measures in safeguarding the nation.
