In one of the latest posters put out by Pakistan backed terror group JeM/ Jaish-e-Mohammed, the word sea is mentioned myriads of time. It also mentions the JeM recruits must learn swimming. Interestingly, the Bahawalpur terror camp which was struck by India on May 7th had a swimming pool.
Translation of a part of the poster put out by JeM:
Tera and the maritime jihad
J*had is a definite duty… and J*had at sea is more excellent and J*had at sea is not possible without learning Tera… From this you can imagine how important it is for a Muslim… to learn Tera and to master it to the fullest extent possible… In today’s gathering, every Muslim should make the intention that, God willing, he will…
For the sake of Almighty, you will learn…
J*had in the way of almighty will teach you…
Gentlemen, by obeying the orders of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, you will learn…
Gentlemen, you will learn from the footsteps of the Companions…
The brave conquerors of the Muslim Ummah who conquered Constantinople…
Following their path, you will learn…
And he will teach his children about you with great care…
To rise

Bahawalpur is located approximately 400 kilometers from Lahore. The place had emerged as a critical nerve center for Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a terrorist organization responsible for numerous attacks in India over the past two decades. At the heart of this activity lies the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah, also known as the Usman-o-Ali campus, which serves as JeM’s operational headquarters.
Spanning 18 acres, the Usman-o-Ali campus is a sprawling facility that includes a central mosque, a madrassa accommodating over 600 students, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, and even stables. While publicly presented as a religious educational institution, intelligence reports reveal that the complex was quietly converted into a comprehensive training center for JeM operatives after 2011. Funding for this transformation is believed to have been funneled through Al-Rahmat Trust, a front organization linked to JeM, allowing the group to expand its infrastructure under the guise of charitable activities.
The campus’s proximity to Pakistan’s 31 Corps military cantonment, located just a few miles away, has raised significant concerns. Intelligence sources point to this close alignment as evidence of tacit endorsement by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), suggesting a level of state complicity in JeM’s operations. Satellite imagery further show the site’s strategic importance, showing consistent development and expansion over the years, with new structures and facilities indicating an active and growing operational hub.
This is also the same JeM facility where Hamas representatives had gathered earlier in Feb 2025.
The transformation of the Usman-o-Ali campus into a training ground highlights the challenges of combating terrorism in regions where militant groups operate with apparent impunity. Bahawalpur’s role as JeM’s stronghold underscores the need for heightened scrutiny and international cooperation to address the ongoing threat posed by such organizations.
As per some Pro-JeM preachers, Terrorist Masood Azhar moved out JeM recruits from the facility to give a sense of normalcy.
