
Pakistani media reported, citing sources, that Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi are leaving for China to participate in the second trilateral meeting between Kabul, Islamabad, and Beijing.
Pakistan’s foreign minister will begin his official visit to China on Monday, May 19. Pakistani media reported, citing sources, that he is scheduled to hold talks with senior Chinese officials on bilateral and regional issues.
It has been said that tensions between India and Pakistan will be one of the main topics of the meetings. It has also been reported that the Taliban foreign minister will also arrive in Beijing on Tuesday, May 20.
Based on information from sources provided to Pakistani media, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will hold a trilateral meeting with Amir Khan Mottaki and Ishaq Dar.
Sources added that this trilateral meeting will also discuss and exchange views on expanding trade and security cooperation between the three countries.
The first trilateral meeting between the Taliban, Pakistan, and China was held in Kabul on Saturday, May 10, with the presence of Amir Khan Muttaqi and representatives of China and Pakistan. The meeting discussed economic and security cooperation, as well as regional stability.
Previously, the Taliban’s deputy foreign ministry spokesman announced that Yu Xiaoyong, China’s special representative for Afghanistan affairs, had invited Amir Khan Muttaqi to visit China this month, and the invitation had been accepted.
