Nepalese Army Chief to Visit China; his 1st visit to China

Kathmandu – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Ashokraj Sigdel is scheduled to visit China in the second week of September to attend the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum. This marks his first trip to China since assuming the role of Army Chief.

The invitation to the forum, a prominent platform for defense and security discussions, has prompted correspondence with the Ministry of Defense for approval. Currently, COAS Sigdel is on an official visit to Thailand. His upcoming trip to China follows closely on the heels of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent visit to the country, signaling continued diplomatic and military engagement between Nepal and China.

Nepalese forces and the Chinese forces will soon be holding exercises.
