Pro-Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) social media accounts circulated a message announcing the death of Hakim Muhammad Tahir Sahib (also referred to as Hakeem Muhammad Tahir Anwar Sahib), a senior figure closely associated with the banned terror group.
The announcement, written in a traditional Islamic condolence style, stated that the funeral prayer (namaz-e-janaza) for Hakim Muhammad Tahir would be held at 11 PM at the Jamia Masjid of Usman and Ali (also known as Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah), the well-known headquarters of JeM in Bahawalpur, Pakistan.
The message described the deceased as a “guardian and selfless servant” of the mosque who had suddenly passed from the “mosque to the mazar” (grave). It urged believers to attend the funeral prayer in large numbers and asked those living far away to pray for the departed soul. The note began with Quranic verses such as “To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return” and included prayers for patience and reward.
“The elder brother of Maulana Muhammad Masood Azhar Sahib, Hafizahullah, brother Hakim Muhammad Tahir Sahib’s funeral prayer will be held tonight at 10 PM at Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah.
The funeral prayer of Brother Hakim Muhammad Tahir Sahib, may Allah protect him, will be offered tonight at 10 pm at the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Khadim’s letter
To Allah belongs and to Allah we shall return.
Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you…
……….Allah al-Baqi
O you who remain, you are the remaining, there is no remaining except Allah.
have said..
My dear elder brother…. Hakeem Muhammad Tahir Anwar Sahib… passed away.
To Allah belongs and to Allah we shall return.
“O God, do not deprive us of his reward, nor let us be tempted after him.”
His funeral prayer, God willing… will be offered at 11pm at the Jamia Masjid of Usman and Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)… He was the guardian and selfless servant of this mosque… His sudden journey from the “mosque” to the “mazar” has wounded the heart… We are content with the destiny of Allah Almighty.
And say.
To Allah belongs and to Allah we shall return.
The believers around us should participate in the funeral prayer in full. And those who are far away should arrange for the passing away of the deceased…..
And peace
Servant of… There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God“
Markaz Subhan Allah (Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah complex) in Bahawalpur serves as the primary headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed. It has long been a central hub for radicalisation, training, fundraising, and planning of terrorist activities directed against India — including the 2019 Pulwama attack.
For years, India has consistently highlighted that groups like JeM operate with impunity from Pakistani territory, using religious institutions and charitable fronts as cover for terrorist activities. The emergence of such messages on pro-JeM platforms serves as a reminder of the deep integration between the terror group and certain religious complexes in Pakistan.
India maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and has repeatedly called upon Pakistan to dismantle the infrastructure of groups like JeM that continue to threaten regional peace and security. Operation Sindoor was a measured and targeted response to continued cross-border terror threats, aimed at neutralising capabilities rather than targeting civilians.
The full message, as shared on pro-JeM channels, reflects the group’s attempt to mourn one of its senior members while projecting continuity and resilience. From India’s viewpoint, it instead highlights the ongoing disruption of JeM’s operational network following decisive Indian action.
