Resonant News spotted Pakistani terror group Lashkar E Tayyiba/LeT proxy PMML’s members carrying out scuba diving in Charna island, outside Karachi
Resonant News has access to the names of the LeT divers as well. PMML/ Pakistani Markazi Muslim League.
Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives conducting scuba diving and underwater training around Charna Island (Churna Island) near Karachi center is the group’s attempts to build maritime sabotage and seaborne attack capabilities.
LeT’s specialized maritime wing—frequently referred to by intelligence agencies as the Da’wa Marine Wing or Sada-e-Hurriyat—has sought to expand its operational reach beyond traditional land-based infiltration across the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Training operatives in scuba diving and combat swimming serves several tactical purposes:
~Infiltration via Sea Routes: Training operatives to navigate underwater allows them to bypass conventional naval coastal patrols and border radar networks undetected.
~Underwater Sabotage: Scuba training enables operatives to attach limpet mines or underwater explosive charges to naval vessels, commercial ships, offshore oil rigs, or port infrastructure around western Indian harbors (such as Mumbai, Gujarat, or Kochi).
~Frogman & Combat Swimmer Roles: Operatives learn to breach security barriers underwater to access high-value coastal targets (e.g., naval bases, shipyards, or coastal power plants) from the sea rather than over land.
Why Charna Island?
Favorable Water Conditions: Unlike much of the shallow, muddy coastline around the Indus Delta, the waters surrounding Charna Island feature coral reefs, relatively high underwater visibility (up to 15–20 meters during winter), and deeper waters suitable for open-water scuba diving.
Proximity to Key Installations: The island sits close to major naval infrastructure, including Pak Navy platforms, the Karachi coast, and the strategic sea lanes of the Arabian Sea.
Civilian Cover: Charna Island is a popular civilian spot for commercial scuba diving, snorkeling, and water sports. Operating in or near recreational diving areas provides camouflage for covert training activities, blending military-style combat swimming practice into routine maritime traffic.
Evolution toward Underwater Ops: Following increased surveillance on surface vessels across the Arabian Sea, terrorist groups have increasingly attempted to train combat swimmers and divers to execute subsurface attacks.
Earlier in 2008, during the Mumbai attacks LeT had trained its cadre in Mangla dam.
Resonant News has released multiple videos as proof of surge in Pakistani terror groups (LeT & JeM) trainings in water.
